Grandma

Found this while looking through poems I wrote when I was a kid. I was apparently eleven when I wrote this. I teared up while reading this. I miss you Mimi.

Grandma

Goodies upon goodies
Sweets upon sweets
That describes my Grandma
when she’s making treats.

She holds me tight when she
whispers wisdom in my ear.
That’s just one reason
I’m glad she’s here.

I listen intently when she
tells a story.
She’s in the spotlight.
She’s in the glory.

I look at her with the
Kitten in her lap
and the dog sniffing
her ear and I
know that she knows
our fear

Now it’s her birthday
and I’m going to remind
Her . . . . . . .
How much she means
To us . . . for just being
here

and let them in.
My dear friends
and close kin.
They know who I am
and know who I’ve been.
They protect me
from sorrow and sin.
I open my arms
and let them in.

Beautiful Blue

Beautiful Blue

beautiful sadness
beautiful blue

know deep feeling
know love
know light
know its meaning

beautiful sadness
beautiful blue

to want light
back to you

one by one
broke

Finally
I’m home
Cleansed of before
Shiny and new
Whole
